Award for Overall Excellence 2004 Award for Emerging Industries 2004 Geometry in conjunction with its partner, Public Sector Mapping Agencies (PSMA) Limited Australia, were recognised for their leading edge work in the global spatial information industry, at the inaugural Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards. The Awards, held in Canberra late 2004, were organised by the Australian Spatial Industry Business Association and the Spatial Sciences Institute. The Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF), built by Geometry for PSMA, received the J.K. Barrie Overall Excellence Award, as well as the Emerging Industries Award. These awards represent the pinnacle of spatial achievement in the region. G-NAF is the first authoritative index of Australian addresses, each with a unique geographic coordinate. The award citation said G-NAF: "...is an outstanding example of the development of an operational database and system, which has delivered enormous efficiency gains. The project participants have developed what is likely to be the dominant standard for geocoding, setting new benchmarks in accuracy, comprehensiveness and rigour in the development of a fundamentally national dataset."
