We've had a few Telstra 3G Usage issues reported, which stem from users not being able to access the BigPond mobile pages from their iPhone. The BigPond mobile pages allow you to access Telstra only content, such as weather, sport, news, etc, free of charge, and so it is worthwhile getting this access set up correctly.
To test whether you have full access. Go to the Settings app (usually on your home screen) go to Phone | Telstra Services | BigPond Mobile for iPhone. Click the 'My' tab at the top of the page. Click 'My Data Usage' then 'Mobile data usage'. Working Usage Page If you can't access this page (or your page doesn't contain the graph - see below), then you haven't got your Telstra internet access set up correctly, and consequently 3G Usage doesn't work. Faulty Usage Page - note no graph What we have found recently is: - Telstra do not publish usage data in the first month of a new account being activated. So there is no way we can work out what the usage is.
- Some phones have the wrong APN setup. To check on this got to Settings | General | Network | Cellular Data Network. The APN entry should be 'telstra.iph'. Some phones have this as 'telstra.internet', which doesn't work correctly. Please change it to the correct entry if wrong. Not all users have reported success after changing this.
If any of the above doesn't help, you may have to contact Telstra to get proper access to their web pages. |
